A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR GOUDHURST PARISH
We are pleased to be able to tell you that Kent County Council has now entered into a contract with Call Flow Solutions to provide Superfast Broadband to the parish of Goudhurst. The delay in reaching this stage was due to the problems KCC had to overcome in obtaining approval, to provide State Aid to support our scheme, from HM Government and the European Union.
During December and January you might well see work being carried out around the Telephone cabinets and poles in the centre of Goudhurst. It is anticipated that it should only cause minimal disruption. This is preliminary work to enable Call Flow Solutions to start building their network.
Over the coming months they will be working with other agencies to complete their infrastructure which will become available to most properties served by the Goudhurst Exchange during the course of 2014.
Those outside this initial envelope should not despair as Call Flow Solutions have already identified a range of options for them as well.
We will be issuing further updates over the coming months. Please pass this link on to family, friends and colleagues in the parish.

Hi Lorne, I was pleasantly surprised to see this post on here! Can I ask if this is the radio broadband we spoke about last year or is this something more in line with ADSL2? Also will the housing estate be in receipt of the faster broadband and what are the anticipated speeds?
Many thanks
Olly
Will Kilndown be part of this rollout?
Yes, Mark. Some residents in Kilndown are already using the new network. More news to follow!
Hi Olly, The new system will provide VDSL (like BT’s Fibre-to-the-Cabinet) as well as a radio broadband overlay for those who cannot get good service from the VDSL solution. The housing estate in Goudhurst should be able to get 24Mbps or more. The maximum on the BT system is 8Mbps. So for families and those who like to do video streaming, the new service should be worth exploring!
