And the prize for the UK’s Slowest Broadband….

by admin on January 24, 2011

…. goes to Kent.

Kent has (again) won the dubious prize of having the UK’s slowest broadband.  This time around it is the residents of Railway Hill in Canterbury, Kent who take the prize with average download speed is 0.13Mb, which means downloading a film would take about 48 hours!  According to Top10.com, which compiled the figures through one million speed tests carried out on its website, the UK average speed is 6.21Mb, almost 50 times faster than in Railway Hill.

Kent also won the Top10.com prize last November – but last time it was Farningham who took the trophy.  In November the Top10.com survey also said the UK’s average download speed was 6.86Mbps.

So overall, average broadband download speeds are going DOWN, not UP!!!
